Modified corn starch
The insolubility of starch at room temperature limits its use in processes and formulations that do not involve heat treatment. Consequently, for such processes, pre-gelatinized starch is used, as it has the ability to absorb water and form a gel at room temperature.
Some applications of pre-gelatinized starch include:
- Baby food
- Soups
- Bakery products
- Stabilizer
- Excipient in pharmaceutical industries
- As a binder in wet granulation
